Re: The Weight Loss Thread
Can I join you? I weigh 12st and 9st is my healthy weight. Mostly this is a result of drinking too much as I have depression and then binge. Today is day 3 of sobriety.
Looking forward to weigh ins. Maybe it will shame me into getting off my a**e and doing some exercise. That is something I find difficult at home. The TV is so tempting

Re: The Weight Loss Thread
Oh fabulous. I have joined just in time to take part in the weigh in.
I am 12 stone and 6 lbs. This is around the weight I have been for a long time. I just accept that this the weight I am and have ebayed all my smaller clothes but I would like to loose some weight. I'm not too big but and quite happy with my proportions but for my health I need to loose some.

I'd like to join in please, I'm far too heavy to say what I weigh. Maybe when I lose a few stone.

hugs hermum
im totally agreeing with alec
I have been having porridge for brekkie all week and it seems to keep me going a lot longer than just toast or croisants and that kind of stuff, I dont eat cereal much as I hate milk yuck, and my weight was better today than I thought it would be so im signing up to the porridge fan club i think

Re: The Weight Loss Thread
I love porridge, I often have some in the evening if I need something sweet, I'm not sure though how good the spoon of syrup or honey & sultanas are for weight loss that I have to have in mine. I always tell myself that it's better than chocolate as there's little fat.

Re: The Weight Loss Thread
Dried fruit is good for you - full of iron, if you're only sticking a small amount in then it's all to the good. And if honey or syrup soothes your sweet tooth then there's nothing wrong with that!. Porridge is great

hermum, it can be done, it just takes time. If it makes you feel any better I realised I needed to lose weight when I became stuck between my coffee table and tv unit and had to wait for the man to get home to move the table and rescue me. I can laugh now but at the time I was devastated.
And I've just seen this as a bit of food for thought - http://optimisticminds.tumblr.com/post/9395100171

Re: The Weight Loss Thread
Can I join too, I am quite tall and am the heaviest I've ever been, DH is always munching on something and I end up eating the same! Everyone says "aww you don't notice it because your tall" , but I do, my weight gain isn't in proportion IYKWIM it's all round the middle with little skinny legs and arms!
I don't have scales anymore as I became a bit obsessive the last time I was on a diet and ended up throwing them out, so will go by how loose my clothes get.
I was doing Jillian Michaels 30 day shred for a while and noticed a difference doing that as I was starting to tone up round the waist but then I hurt my back and stopped doing it and ended up balooning back up!
Not going on a strict diet, just going to try and cut out junk food and start exercising again, need to get in shape for next June as we're off to Florida and would like to be able to sit by the pool without worrying if anyones looking at my fat belly!

Morning all. Weigh in 11st 7 1/2. Yeah. That's down from 12 since Monday. Probably mostly water (and lack of alcohol ) but sets me up nicely for the day.
Just had yoghurt for breakfast. Now off to walk the dog.

Re: The Weight Loss Thread
To stop the boredom/comfort snacking I suggest picking up your crafting stuff if you do it. If your hands are busy it's harder to think about greasy or sticky food as you don't want to ruin your hard work. If you really do want to snack I suggest popcorn. Pop your own and flavour it with herbs, cinnamon a small amount of salt or sugar. It has great mouth feel, there's a lot of it but it's not that bad for you.

Re: The Weight Loss Thread
Grrr bah humbug. Did really well until lunch - yoghurt and a boiled egg with soldiers.
Now I'm on the train to London for an enforced stay with my parents for 2 weeks and I've scoffed a train BLT and one of those small bottles of wine. Seriously hacked off with myself. Must do better.

Re: The Weight Loss Thread
Don't worry about it Cat, it's only one meal - as they say if you had a bunch of flowers and one died you wouldn't chuck the whole bunch away, just the dead one so you've not scuppered anything, no need to go off the rails (sorry, couldn't resist the pun!).

Re: The Weight Loss Thread
Thanks for the support. That is what I normally do. Start and then think why bother stopping.
But I didn't. I stopped at the bottle (rather than 3 which can be my norm :affraid: ) and didn't have anything when offered by my father when we got home. Also reduced portion size of dinner considerably to alleviate the BLT.
This morning had yoghurt and OJ. Have taken dog for a walk and done some paid work
