Something you didnt know that you found out today?
random thread?
Did anyone tell you anything you didnt know today? Did you find anything out you didnt know?
I was talking to someone this morning, who said they were going to Aruba on holiday on Monday for a week. I had not heard of it and didnt know it was a small Caribbean island.

Found out that my dear friend is looking to move to Australia very upset but trying to be positive for her as she's dealing with a lot of guilt about taking her children away from their grandmothers. It's a corker of an opportunity and I'm chuffed to bits for her. Back to being a loner in a village again for me though.

i work in a high school and today i learned in science that a lobster can live in a freezer for ages (like six months) and the be thawed out and scuttle around your kitchen.
it can only be killed by high temperatures but not by low temperatures. fascinating.
i usually learn something random everyday its quite incredible really x

Dan asks me this every day when he gets home from work!
Today I learned that Le Corbusier died by drowning. Not a nice thing to learn but it was the most remarkable.

The name bonfire is believedto be derived from from the Celtic custom of burning the bones of the cattle which were slaughtered at this time.

that's so interesting!
I learned that as your local MP is YOUR employee, technically when writing to one you could use their first name so in my case I could begin a letter with "Dear Stephen" or "Dear Steve"... but it's nicer to be a little more formal.
I liked the idea of beginning an email with "Yo! Stevie baybee!!!"

today I learned that if you make up jelly cubes with tonic water (3:1 ratio of 3water to 1 tonic water so it doesn't end up too bitter) IT GLOWSUNDER FREAKING BLACKLIGHT!!!
sorry. thought it was cool.
you can also coat icing with it, buttercream frosting type; don't make the base colour too strong or the glowing doesn't show up as well.. dip in the jelly mixture then shove in freezer for an hour. same again... coat about 3 times.
I WANT ABLACKLIGHT SO I CAN MAKE GLOW IN THE DARK STUFF FOR HALLOWEEN!!!

I discovered on Wednesday I can do a tap move called wings.
Bloody impressed as I don't think I even did it when I was a kid
(Look it up on YouTube if you want, it's basically a flick of both feet as you jump up and a tap with both feet on the way back down).

Golden beetroot is lovely, they sell it at our supermarket, nice flavour, tastes marginally less of soil than red beetroot. Your dog is cute btw.

I LOVE tunisian work. I tried starting a blanket using a flexible tunisian hool but hated it flapping all over the place so I took it off and put it onto a hard 18" instead..... and I got bored after a while and made it into a scarf instead!
I made my daughter's drink bottle cover using tunisian. 8" antique bone hook with a bead glued on the end.

yes. it is. grrrrrrrrrr. BUT if it's a choice of paying a tenner to stop the cheque or leave it floating out in the ether for anyone to mess with, it's got to be the tenner I'm afraid.

Re: Something you didnt know that you found out today?
it was sent to the letting agent for renewal of contract, and we're had no contact whatsoever despite numerous phone calls and emails, and going wayyy past the renewal date... so we're assuming we're now on a periodic tenancy and as such they have no right to bank the cheque... also, it was sent in AUGUST and they've still not banked it. their loss. we've sent in writing that if they still do wish to give us a standard assured shorthold instead of periodic tenancy, we'll reissue the cheque.... but to be honest I prefer the idea of being on a periodic as now if basildon council finally pull their fingers out and get us out of this mouldy hell hole, we only have to give one month notice instead of 2. letting agent however, still has to give 2 months notice legally lol.
