What do you eat for lunch when you're in the house yourself.

I struggle to make myself a lunch, or more to the point, motivate myself to cook for myself! So I tend to pick. Three years of this has effected my weight.

I have endeavoured to eat properly with eating (2!) ham salad sandwiches... still, better than scoffing crisps and dunking biscuits in my tea.

I dont usually bother!!!

And if im at work I usually grab a sandwich off the shelf, but I need to stop this as its costing me a fortune!!!

In an ideal world I should have tea ready for 2 (so I can eat before I go to work) and then the kids can just nuke it when they get in from school.

I think once they start back at school I shall make packed lunches the night before (and make myself a packed lunch as well) so I can at least have something when im at work that hasnt cost me the earth!

I make sure I have lots of "grab and go" foods for when can't be bothered. So we always have oatcakes and pitta in the pantry and stuff like peanut butter, houmous and things like that.

I just posted on the diet thread about this - I feel best mentally and physically on a low carb diet, which means I need to be quite organised and motivated to avoid stuffing myself with toast and chocolate.

If I'm up to it, I have something like a lean burger and some onions, plus green veg - if I do that I forget about food until teatime. If I do like I did today and have a cherry scone, it's only half an hour before I'm looking for my next carb fix Sad

I often make extra portions of dinner things deliberately for this. I too don't feel at my best when I eat lots of bread/carbs so too much in the sandwich department is a no go.

I started doing this by mistake - elder son is now 18 and sometimes not in for dinner due to social life. So as not to waste it, I reheated for the next day's lunch. Now though I deliberately cook suitable things for 1 or 2 more people than dinner requires just so I can have some lunches ready

If there is anything left over from the night before (occasionally happens) then I nuke that, favourite meal is skinheads of a raft, or a boiled chuckie egg with soldiers, salad and I also like to have some tinned fruit (yes I know fresh is best but just like tinned fruit in juice) and if I go out I take a sarnie and a nut bar and a small bottle of water.

I don't have a problem with leftovers. Last year my ds always took them to school to warm up for his lunch in the 6th form common room. I would rather make a bit more dinner at night than make sandwiches!

At the moment I'm trying to lose weight, I sometimes have eggs of some kind. Or some sort of cooked meat, maybe chicken or turkey.

One of my favourites is some ratatouille in a dish in the microwave with a disc of goat's cheese crumbled in!

if I'm at work I always have lunch as I make it the night before but if I'm at home I rarely get round to it
always seem to be too busy which isn't good
and then I do pig out on crisps and chocolate which really isn't good

I've found that when hubby is off, he likes big breakfasts so if he's off we generally skip lunch as he's made something epic in the morning hahaha.

this morning, grille bacon, fake fried slice and a friend egg.

fake fried slice is made by brushing bread lightly with oil then sticking on a griddle pan or in the george foreman grill. same taste and texture as a fried slice, but not as much fat.

I like to have leftovers for my lunch, from the night before. Was working in the charity shop today and didnt have anything leftover so took in an Ainsley Harriott cup a soup. Was ok as far as cup a soups go but you cant beat the real thing!

I bought a heinz stir in the cup tomato soup today. Its a sachet, like a paste and you add water. Think a tin of soup would have been more economical never mind.
