How about a thread where we can show all our makes, whether they're homemade decorations, handmade gifts or lovely cookery projects we could share our achievements here?

I'm staring lovingly at the willow in the garden thinking it's branches are super strong but bendy... perfect for the start of an indoor wreath.

I must not, I must not - things to do and it's still September! .oO(*dream, one day soon Wink )

Looking forward to seeing your creations!

Might be a bit big. I made this owl doorstop for my mum last year at her request (it wasn't fully beaned at this point)

OK I'll apologise in advance if you've seen these from last year on MSE but these are the Christmas crafts I made last year to sell

https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.123754837685705.18080.123308704396985

I have to say it was an awful lot of work for in reality very little profit so am not sure I'll be making anything like this again unless it's specifically requested.

I would like to have a go at making some Christmas crafts in the coming months......just need to get some ideas. If anyone has any please share Smile

I hadn't seen them. It does look like a lot of work but your creations are fab bounce

I like your reindeer food. I make this every year but just for our two girls, not to sell or anything.

alec eiffel I managed to miss your owl door stop. I do love an owl! Is it still working ad in it's rightful place? Well done! I actually have an owl doorstop too but dare I say it I bought it from B & M bargains. Not quite the same is it.

I am desperate to make my own gifts and plan to for my in-laws but I know my own family's nose will turn up 'Ah there's the skint relative again' They just don't 'get' nor appreciate hand made. I love it! If someone gave me a knited hot water bottle cover, a teacup cosy covered cup and some homemade fudge I'd be over the moon!

Anyone else get this vibe?

I would also be over the moon with something hand made. You can't put a price on time. So much nicer than going out & grabbing whatever from a shop.
I love that owl doorstop as well.

Yes, it's still where it's meant to be (or at least my mum remembers to take it out and put it near the door whenever we visit!) Her cat is obsessed with it apparently...

Ikwym froogs about giving people the handmade gifts. I only made that for my mum because she asked/told me to! We have done gift hampers and charity gifts for people in the past and they went down like a lead balloon so we buy gifts for people now. The weird thing is when people come round to the house they always ask me where I've bought things from and it's always the stuff I've made or put together myself - I don't know how we get from that to not wanting it as a gift. Hey ho, people are strange.

Has anyone made anything for this year yet?

I planned to make cards bit by bit this year so I didn't end up covered in glitter and double sided tape at 3am a week before Christmas. So I made 10 cards on New Year's Day and since then... nothing! So I either need to pull my tripe out or RNLI will get some of my cash. I have some colouring sheets that I'd been colouring to cut up and make paperchains but big grey bunny got into my storage bag and chewed them so back to the drawing board for that too!

Hey ho.

I've decided to make an advent calendar. We do have a fabric one but I fancy making one with doors to open and pictures inside rather than yet more chocolate. I made a template yesterday which was a bit fiddly but then found a printable online so I'm going to get some ink for the printer and print one out then print/draw some pictures of stick them behind and hope for the best!

There are an amazing amount of chocolate ones around! I just fancied a change this year and thought "why not?"

We had a chocolate one once when I was little. I have two brothers so we took it in turns to open the door. That always worked well when it was a picture one but when we had the chocolate one my eldest brother opened up the bottom of the calendar and ate all the chocolates! Laughing It was that horrible plastic tasting cheap chocolate anyway. Went back to pictures the year after that!

Thank you Knitmylife Very Happy

I've just put a load of my christmas decoration onto ebay and 3 of my handmade scarves only I'm drowning now in my new creations Laughing Laughing

I'm very lucky as I have the woods nearby so I've collected a lot of pinecone's the last 2 years.

The little one's I've sprayed painted but the huge one's I used last year for decorating the church for the carols by candlelight service.

I'm thinking of going to have a look for some more. They are so much nicer than shop bought and freeeeeeeeee Very Happy

I bet your will look really lovely

I saw some laser cut wood bunting online a little while ago. I dug out some wooden shapes I bought for a few quid earlier this year so now I have some wood bunting of my own!
