When do you buy or make your Christmas Cards?

I always buy some in the sales so I have got a stock. I rarely buy any full price.

I made a few over New Year so I thought I'd be more organised but I haven't made any since. I'll probably just end up going to the RNLI shop and picking some up there.

I havent bought any yet.

i only do family cards now which i buy each year.

my friends i see to say merry christmas or ill put a message on facebook.

i dont have time to write them or deliver them.

I think a lot of people are like that now. We make an effort to send cards to family - my mum would rather have a card than a gift, she loves getting cards. We also send cards to our friends who live abroad. I don't know why it just feels nice to make the effort or something. Dan doesn't send cards at work anymore, people chuck a quid into the charity pot instead if they feel like it. We generally don't give cards to friends we see all the time. We don't buy gifts either we spend the money on going out for a drink or one of us will host everyone for a meal or a party. I'd rather get together with people than have a gift from them.

My goodies arrived from www.madaboutcards.com today. Got masses of stuff in their Autumn sale, some seriouly good bargains - it was very exciting! So I hve a new home card and an eighteenth card to make then I will be starting on the christmas cards.

Each year I say I not doing xmas cards, have cut alot out over the years.
I don't mind sending and receiving to some friends and family but its the ones you send received because its the done thing iykwim and you've done it for 20 plus years. I'm finding it harder as the years go on with some people adding the kids bf & gf on the cards I wonder what I should do to get it right do I
a) wait for them to send to me with the the lastest names then return
b)send card off my card with just mary, john and family
c) not bother to send a card.
I upset a family member last year by not putting the sons girfiend on the card, she didn't live at that address and I've never met her.

Goodness me, some people! If it were me I'd just put "and family" save any messing about. If someone then chooses to take it the wrong way then that's up to them.

I consider myself to be really lucky because most people I know think cards are a waste of money and aren't all that important so there's no big deal if cards aren't exchanged. I like to think I set out my stall well enough that people know I don't think it means anything if they don't get round posting a card. I don't think it says anything about our relationship.

thats a good one and family i sometimes do that.

I make mine through out the year papercraft, embroidery, hardanger, patchwork and cross stitch one's.

We received our first card through the post today!

ive written my first one today its abit sad we know someone dying of cancer and dont know if they will see xmas or not.

Yes, it was from abroad. It motivated me to get ours posted so I'm not running round last minute.

I buy mine as and when I need them. I used to make my cards but I realised I was making a martyr of myself as I'm not that keen on papercraft so I just wasn't enjoying it.

I buy Amnesty International ones. they do packs of their last year's designs, you can get 60 assorted cards for a bit over a tenner AND they don't say merry christmas in them. they say season's greetings in 7 languages. As I am related to/friends with a lot of pagans and other non christians, these suit me better. they're generally secular designs too although I do have some three kings ones left over from last year.

my kid is the only one in her class who sends full size cards, but I don't see the point in buying separate packs of tiny cards for her to send when she can just pick some out of my collection.

I just buy standard stamps.

i wish i had standard stamps now as i realised i might not need them all over christmas ah well never mind.

I'm sure nobody will mind getting an xmas stamp in march lol.

what about april or may flibs?

got one yesterday but it wasnt for us it was addressed wrong. Nice one too done by a child.
