its just about ready now
i think im almost there. are you?
i have one more present to make. a pair of mittens for my daughter which will only take a couple of evenings.
i have a couple of bits to get like chocolates and smellies (supermarket for all those).
i have one more parcel to arrive from amazon.
apart from that a bit of wrapping up to do which i will do over the next couple of evenings.
ive bought the meat for christmas so its just fresh stuff. i make most things so just the raw materials needed.
its all going according to plan which is a good thing as im coming down with a cold that might set me back a couple of days.
only one more week at work and im free for over two weeks. cant wait.
so where are you up to???

Re: its just about ready now
Other than visiting people to drop gifts off we're done.
All presents are bought and wrapped, cards posted, house decorated, food and drinks bought and socked away. Dan had his work Christmas meal last week so that's out of the way. I'm having my hair cut on the 20th and that's that I think.

Re: its just about ready now
I am almost there - have a few little presents to buy tomorrow, cards have been written, but will be posted tomorrow also. I just need to check that DH has ordered FILs present and if he hasn't, get him to order it tonight!
Goose was ordered a long time ago and will arrive on the 22nd.
Bacon, sausages - I will buy later this week and make up the pigs in blankets and freeze them until needed.
Sprouts - will prep, blanch and freeze them (I have done this the last few years and its worked really well).
I have also sorted out a Birthday card and present for a boxing day birthday of a relative (Which i normally forget about till the last minute!)
This is REALLY organised for me, as I am normally the running around on Christmas Eve type

Re: its just about ready now
All pressies bought or made, just need to put the final cards together and write them which is tomorrow's job. We're Christasing with my parents ths year so don't have loads of food to buy or prep to do. My lovely parents don't want me to bring anything apart from my Christmas pud cheesecake for pudding on Christmas day so I'll make that CHristmas eve before we go up. It's so easy, a no bake mix of cream cheese and whipped cream mixed together with mixed fruit that I have soaked in brandy overnight and dolloped on top of a biscuit crumb base. I first made it as OH really doesn't like things that are solid with dried frut but it does have the essence of chrismas pud about it. It also has the advantage of being slightly lighter than traditional christmas pud so we actually stand some chance of being able to fit it in after dinner!!! Will probably make some home made sweeties too but that will be kids dependant as OH is working right up til 3pm on Christmas eve so won't be able to take them off my hands whilst I prat about with boiling sugar!

Oh dear my cards are still in the shop, still dithering about sending them, if I cut Xmas cards out I think I would feel free and enjoy the festive season more.
Made some nibbles and froze,Turkey in freezer, wine/beer in and got the tree up.

Re: its just about ready now
Christmas cards - now posted
All presents bought. (Althought still waiting for 6 to arrive, they have all been despatched and should arrive this week)
Last night I did an online shop with Tesco (Had a £20 off voucher!) to arrive tomorrow. Have ordered all the "cupboard" extras (bread/cranberry/apple sauces, pickles, cheese and crackers etc.)
So I will just have to buy the fresh veg, milk and bread next week.
Still have to wrap most of the presents though....will do that this weekend, but I like to keep some wrapping to do on Christmas eve, with a glass of wine and a mince pie!

Re: its just about ready now
I still haven't iced my christmas cake yet. I went to do it on the weekend and discovered the marzipan was long ago out-of-date and the only icing I had was multicoloured left over from halloween (It was black and red)
So I will get some more decorating bits tomorrow - although I don't know why I even bother as none of us really like the icing anyway!
And I am still waiting for a couple of presents to arrive - they were despatched AGES ago.

I went to our local high Street yesterday and is was really quiet in most of the shops - even our butchers that is normally queued out of the door was empty.
DH went to Morrisons to get some Milk and potatoes last night and said it wasn't very busy at all either.
I think everyone is organized and prepared this year.

I think you are right there.
I usually get an online shop to arrive a few days before christmas, but I couldn't get a delivery slot at all for this week at ANY online supermarket.
