Christmas Decorating ideas
This is the time of the year when I get all giddy over home decorating magazines.
Christmas time is cosy for me, I get to make my living room all 'nice'.
I normally go for greenery out of the garden on the mantel tittivated with gold baubles and pine cones with golds on my tree. I dolove hanging my wreath out and want to extend the christmas cheer to the hallway this year.
What is your christmas decorating style.
I'd love to see pic's that are lush when you're browsing the net. I'll post

Re: Christmas Decorating ideas
Our decorating style is very much "retro" and I don't mean painfully cool retro I mean "I was born in the 70's" retro. So explosions of crepe paper, lights of every colour, glitter, baubles, garlands, honeycomb balls and bells hanging from the ceiling and all that stuff. There is nothing subtle about my decorating style at the best of times but in December it's brighter and brasher than ever - stay away minimalists!
ohh i take it you will post when its done.

LOL froogs, I'm the opposite of those pictures!
If you like that look I recommend getting hold of some Martha Stewart books, they're great and are packed with great recipes and ideas.

Re: Christmas Decorating ideas
I am TP, you made my day by creating this part of the forum ta muchly
I grew up with 70's christmas decorating. My Mum still decorates her house like that and I love going into it. my girls much prefer her decorations to mine, especially the multicoloured lights on the tree, round the windows, round the arch.
Oh I will alec eiffel! Thank you. I don't know who Martha Stewart is but I'm just about to go find out. Girls, my ironing - aaaargh what are you doing to me lol

You're welcome/I'm sorry!
All you need to know about Martha is - all that good stuff on Pinterest, she did it first! And we ignore that time she spent in prison...

Something to do with insider dealing. IIRC she lied about knowing about the sale of some stocks and went to prison for obstructing justice or something like that.

I bet her cell was the best decorated though
Can I just say I feel this part of the forum is my mecca. Aside from other special events I LOVE LOVE LOVE Christmas. Did I mention that I LOVE Christmas.
Do you know what makes me decide whether to become a blog follower sometimes.........their Christmas posts
Anyway I am planning on having a go at making some felt gingerbread men to hang on the tree and I also fancy having a go at making this

Re: Christmas Decorating ideas
I use pretty lights, holly and Ivy from the garden, pine and cones from the woods some I've sprayed with gold or silver spray paint.
I used ribbons and handmade decorations and DH's handmade christmas scent candles.
I have handsewn and crocheted christmas wall hangings. I hang baubles on ribbons down my door frames and handmade scented decoration off the door handles.
The make a new front door wreath every year from things in my garden and things I've dried and a mix of my handmade decortions.
