Post  flibsey Tue Jan 10, 2012 12:42 am

my friend leah and I are going to join slimming world. she's a size 28, I'm an 18 and we both want to lose weight for health. our friend hazel already goes and is behind us 100%. we're keeping it quiet from other friends though because they're the kind that would undermine and bring it down, but I REALLY wanted to tell someone!!! hazel, leah and myself spend a lot of time together and have become close friends over the last couple of years, so it'll be nice to have that support....

we've also found out that our monthly chinese meal out doesn't have to end, we'll just switch to harvester because a lot of their grilled food is on the "free" food list or is low in treat points, so we can still drink when we go and not go over hahahaha! well, leah and I will drink, Hazel is the only one of us who drives but she's said she'll save her allowances for either a pudding or a full sugar cola.

I've been trying for two years on my own to lose weight, I get to 12st 4 (I'm 13st ish and have been since I had Sophie) and it stops, so I give up and put it back on again. I need the motivation of other people!

I'm starting this week, but leah has prior commitments and will be starting next week. I'm actually really excited. I'll be taking soph with me 'cos jim's on nights, but I'm going to tell her it's a healthy eating club. I was worried about the cost, but I figure Jim spends more on karate than I will on slimming world!!!

Good on you all Smile All the best and don't get disheartened if some weeks you don't lose any thing as you are looking for general downward trend over the next few months.

Good luck, I have started trying to lose a bit of weight too. I've joined MyfitnessPal, where you enter all your details and it works out how many calories you can have a day so you will lose weight, you enter what you've eaten and it tells you the calories, fat content etc. I'm not following a plan just trying to eat healthier, cut out the snacks, exercise more and drink lots of water.
I have my sisters engagement party in March and I would love to wear a nice dress to that, then we are off to Florida at the end of June so would like to be able to wear a bikini around the pool, and not feel uncomfortable

I have to say i find losing weight easier than keeping it off. I guess thats the same for most people. Slimfast is a good one for quick weight loss as soon as you start eating normally again though the weight goes back on.

Well the meeting was great, but I am finding eating breakfast really hard. Was going to buy some boots shaper's chocolate bars too and have one this evening, but as we've only got white bread til I go shopping I had to use some of my treat points for that. and nobody makes dairy free or lactose free low fat spread, so I have to use treat points for my marge as well; so I've had half of the recommended amount of marge on my toast today.

Most of the vegans I know use Pure spread. Afaik it's low fat and it's dairy free so might be a good lactose free option. (apologies if you've tried this and it's not suitable for you)

I hate the taste lol, I'd rather use treat points (sorry, don't like the name "syn" it seems stupid lol) and have Arla Lactofree butter!!! Vitalite is my other option, but that's almost as many "syns" as butter aparently.

Having eaten it myself I can totally understand why you'd rather take the higher "syn" option!

I can't get over how much I am allowed to eat!!!! and I'm still allowed another treat tonght, up to 4 syn points so I'm going to take all my syns and have a boots shaper's choccy mint nougat bar.
I did a nearly fat free spag bol for dinner (>6% fat mince, two sprays of home made frylite and onions sweated in a tiny bit of water), and because it was made with all "free" foods, I could eat as much as I wanted!!! I had a serving spoon full of sauce (veggie packed) over 100g (dry weight) of pasta and am full to the brim.
jim had the same for dinner and has decided to walk to karate tonight.... he's not on a health kick though. I say he decided... the car's f*ck*d again so he had no choice!

I also bought an 8" baking tin so I can make some very highly engineered sugar and fat free brownies lol. highly engineered because they have to be a certain size to equal a certain amount of syns. it took 15 mins of maths to calculate the syns in this damned recipe lol.

and I've walked a little under 2 miles today.

At one stage I just gave up spread/butter completely. Even now (when I'm not on Dukan) I don't bother with it, as real butter is high in cals and so are the decent spreads. I'd rather 'spend' the cals on something else.

I can't completely give up, the only wholemeal bread I can eat is gluten free (any other wholemeal or seeded gives me a nasty tummy) and it's soooo dry.

Hi flibsey
I'm doing SW as well. I did it about 5yrs ago and lost 2 1/2st but then put it bck on :-( Have dipped in and out of it since, but not seriously. As the scales were creeping up the wrong way, I've decided to take the bull by the horns and send them back down again, so joined on line, as the meeting times, near me, don't fit in with my free times :-)
My weigh in was today, and I'd lost 2lbs so pretty plesed with that :-) At least it's going the right way :-)
Good luck with your 'story' :-)

Anne.

I am still loving it. actually thriving on the diet, james is amazed I've stuck to it. it's even changing my attitude to food for the first time ever. normally I give in and end up with chocolate etc, but because I'm calculating syns now I see things, think "oooh yummy" work out the syns and think "nah, not worth it. give me a banana" lol. I've NEVER been able to keep to a diet properly, NEVER!!!

:-) I really got into it when I did it the first time, but got a bit cocky when I reached my goal, and went my own way, and of course the enevitable happened, and now I'm back again lol. Did it gain a couple of years ago, and did well, but gave up too easily. This time I seem to have a better attitude, and want to stay with it. I'm looking forward to being a weight I feel good at, and staying there :-)
