Does anyone live near Leeds?
I'm thinking of going to Leeds for the day on Tuesday. OH is going on a course in the city centre so I can hitch a ride for free.
Can anyone recommend anything nice to see/do in the city centre, somewhere nice for lunch etc?
Or does anyone fancy meeting up for a real life cup of coffee?

The cafe in the art gallery on the Headrow does some really nice cold platters - sort of posh ploughmans lunch style - I've eaten there with my mum a couple of times and it's really nice without being expensive. Last time I went with MIL we went to an Italian down the side by the Corn exchange, one of the slightly posher chain ones think it might have been called zilli's and that was good too, it has a proper woodfired pizza oven for the pizzas and garlic bread. Dont know if it's still there as I haven't been for about 3 years but there used to be a lovely little japanese place behind House of Frazer that did a good sushi platter for reasonable money and had a little fish pond and bridge inside!
I'm going to have to go into Leeds in a couple of weeks as the kids are growing like weeds and I need to hit primark with a vengence! I always feel like such a country bumpkin when I go though as I get bothered by the crowds and all the cars and buses - How bad does that sound?

Re: Does anyone live near Leeds?
I had a very nice day, thanks. DH's course was rubbish so he was glad to meet for lunch - but because he didn't have much time we went to Wagamama as it was nearby.
I really enjoyed the art gallery (I saw the Damian Hirst sheep!!!) and did my entire winter clothes shopping - one skirt, one cardigan, three tops, two pairs of posh knickers - job done, minimalist all-matching wardrobe now complete! So it was a good day - I've got a rotten sore throat so it was a bit tiring, but it made a very nice change.
