If you have a husband, bf, gf, partner or significant other
do you buy them Christmas gifts? If you do, do you have a budget, is it a surprise, do you just buy token gifts or what? If not why not and does anyone buy a joint gift that you both want instead of buying something for each other?

oh and i buy presents for each other, there really isnt a budget we spend what we fee,l and what we think each other would like that year. No hard and fast rules.
One year was good we saved some money and put it towards a few nights out at the theatre.

Re: If you have a husband, bf, gf, partner or significant other
We get each other little token gifts, thing we think each other might like.. a new book by favourite author, something funny (this year I'm crocheting DH a 'christmas jumper') we never spend a fortune on each other.
My sister goes absolutely mad spending on her DH and he does her. They may have the funds to do it and we don't but somehow the thought or sentiment is lost. I can't say either of them particularly think about giving a gift but more so is I have to spend a lot of money so this is what I'll get.
I may be bang out of order with my observations and maybe the green eyed monster at their free amounts of cash but... I am actually happy with my lot and can't wait to see DH's face when he open's this funny shaped (never done a jumper before) dodgy looking christmas attire. It'll be worth the laugh!

We have a budget of about £20 and the aim is to have a good few parcels to open. OH usually cheats and spends a bit more on me though a he says otherwise it's not fair on me as I'm better at bargains than he is and I usually manage to get him loads!
ExH used to buy me really expensive things but TBH would have much preferred a bit more input the rest of the year rather than getting me something big so he looked good in the pub when I got asked what he got me for Christmas!

Gave up buying gifts along time ago for each other, both feel whats the point of buying each other pointess crap, well he would buy pointless crap
If we want something and can afford it we have it what ever time of the year, I can't really go through the pain of making him go shopping making hime choose , making him wrap it , making him giving it to me and then I have to look pleased and say its lovely
Or could I

we budget about £30 each, we really dont have the extra cash to be splurging on oursleves and being honest we buy through out the year. as long as the kids get. We always buy a pressie from the kids too which is in this £30

we have picked some things out of the new theatre brochure for next year and will try and go to those. We have bought each other something to unwrap but it can be hard to keep coming up with things and we would prefer some theatre evenings so will do that this year.

Re: If you have a husband, bf, gf, partner or significant other
We always buy for each other little things in the stockings that we know the other person will enjoy. There has to be a least one walnut whip in DH's stocking or we get the sad face with the buttom lip sticking out.
We also write up our Santa's Wishlist each and exchange so we know we'll get something off that list but won't know what untill we unwrap.
We also always have a stocking of goodies for the Dog with each item clearly wrapped up. The dog love's his stocking and the things inside and means he's learnt that the 'other' presents are not his to touch.

We don't buy each other gifts for Christmas or birthdays, if we want something we'll just save up for it and buy it. Dan always makes me a birthday card though.

we make a fuss of birthdays lol. anniversaries (wedding and meeting, we've been married 6 years but together for 9) we tend to get "house" presents.

Re: If you have a husband, bf, gf, partner or significant other
the only reason I've got a slightly more expensive than usual birthday gift this year is because my small camera broke (my SLR wont fit in my handbags) and so jim has got me a new one from the argos sale.

Re: If you have a husband, bf, gf, partner or significant other
We can't really afford any more than £20 each this year. Before child/ren and the recession, we never budgeted and just got whatever we fancied and spent rather a lot. In the last few years, we've had to scale back massively, and so far this year, I have spent £10 on DH and him £10.95 on me (I tell him what I'd like, he is clueless when it comes to gift buying!) So we may or may not get something else for one another when we do the last of our shopping tomorrow.
