Sorry for late reply my internet crashed Sad
um hobbies

I love gardening and have an allotment, hubby has just bought me four fruit trees for the garden for christmas. I also cross stitch, and read. Then theres the sewing machine that comes out a bit making things for our home.

umm then theres the crochet, i can follow either english or usa patterns planing to make a bed spread in the new year when i have finished the christmas gifts. I also enjoy making jams and chutneys and squirreling them away for next year and giveing some to the in laws.

Now because of new (3 month old now) grand daughter i can add to the list knitting, now started adult sizes and as a take off from that im now preparing a sheeps fleece (or two) from scratch and spinning the fleece on a drop spindle, as i would like to knit with my own wool.

There is still so much i would like to learn though, fancy learning spinning on a spinning wheel next. And stumpwork which i had never heard off till i saw a pic so fancy trying that

i can also do hand embroidery if im so inclined.

Lord i sound smug i dont mean to would just like to say though if anyone wants to try something go for it, i am self tought on everything theres nothing so good as working it out, and the internet and books are a great place to start

Hi tanis, wow you are a busy lady! I agree about using the internet to self teach just about anything you fancy. I have learnt new sewing skills this year (which led to a very expensive purchase of an embroidery machine by my hubby for my birthday!). Its also a great place for getting ideas for things to make.

I have also just discovered a new interest through online browsing, making baskets out of coiling cotton washing line covered with fabric. Only trouble is I am having great difficulty in finding the right washingline, I can buy it in the USA but having it shipped over here would cost heaps!

Good luck with the sheeps fleece and spinning, thats something I would love to try.
