As above do you go to anything, does oh/partner/hubby have any do's that you go too.
I am not bothered about going out for xmas dinners etc. We do have one at my voluntary job its on a lunchtime and the local college do a meal and the staff do some singing.

Re: do you go to any Xmas dinners or anything like that?
Last year we had tickets to go to Dan's work do but we didn't go because we were at the hospital! This year it's going to be really low key with just the people from his office going to a local bistro for a meal (he works for a council so as lots of people have been made redundant and everyone has taken a pay cut no-one has the cash or inclination to have a big thing).
I used to go to a couple of parties when I volunteered - the official Age Concern party and the one for our shop only. Now I have a works party for myself! Luckily I let myself bring a guest so Dan and I go out for a meal - at the cafe at our supermarket but the food it great, last year I had chestnut fritters, spicy bean cakes and fig creme brulee *yum*. Then back to the house for drinks, dancing and putting the tree up! The rabbits and Henry hoover are also invited to the second part.

I really like the sound of your party alec
My OHs work does a Christmas party but it is 40 miles away so we dont go as it is too much agravation and it really just seems to be for the office staff rather than the guys who work on the rigs
He is talking about organising something with the guys from the machine he runs, will have to see how that works out. It would be nice for me to meet some of the other wives (maybe!) but it might end up men only and its difficult to organise because they arent all home at the same time

OH company organise a 'do' in July time and they pay for hotel, food n booze and we generally go to that (this is for xmas by the way!). His immediate department organise a christmas do but it costs £60pp and OH says he cannot justify that for a meal and then pay for drinks and he said he wouldn't go without me Good idea alec, think we will have a 'closed' party for two in the local wetherspoons....

our local college cant do our meal anymore. Apparantely the centre staff are going to do it instead. Its a Christmas dinner buffet style. cant imagine how they are going to do that. How are they going to keep all the food warm. A big undertaking. no doubt i will go along and help.

Yes I do
I teach and arts and crafts class and we have a 'gathering.'
I go to my DH car club christmas dinner
I also arrange and go to my own car club christmas dinner. Yes I run a car club for woman.
I arrange and go to my Mother N Toddler christmas dinner and party. I run the Mother n Toddler Group.
I just have to be careful what I eat as I don't eat meat.
