Does anyone have one of these? What do you think?

I have a remoska and I love love love love love it. I don't know if that's enough loves... Dan was very skeptical about it when I said I wanted one but as soon as I made the first scones and toad in the hole he was smitten too. We've had ours a few years now and I use it all the time. Our oven is old and eats up electricity, I can't always batch cook and we don't have a microwave so when we want a jacket potato or to reheat something from frozen it's the best thing ever. I wouldn't want to be without it.

One of Dan's uni mates saw ours and went out to buy one for himself. He lives on his own so he doesn't want to put the oven on all the time either and it's a great way for him to make sure he keeps out of the takeaway as much as possible. Well worth the money.

I have a halogen oven and i love it too
It must have saved me a fortune in electric I only really use my big oven now if i am cooking a lot the rest of the time i just use the halogen. theres no waiting for it to heat up, just switch it on and away you go, and it has a timer which is great as it just switches itself off
I have been thinking about a remoska for a few years but cant get my head around no temperature controls and do you put things in a casserole dish or straight into it oh and is it any good for making bread as i havent figured the halogen for making bread yet

Yes, you can put foil containers and glass cookwear in the remoska. I never do though I just stick the food in and let it go. It is weird to think there's no temperature control but there are two steam valves so they open when needed - the magic remoska elves do the rest! Yes, you can make bread in it. You don't preheat it either but there is no timer (which I don't see as a downside but I guess some people might).

The kind of stuff I make in mine - scones, cake, bread, pastries, yorkshire pud, jacket potatoes/wedges, stew, cobbler, lasagne/pasta bake/moussaka (sp)/shepherdess pie, curry/tagine/chilli, roast veg, crumble, fry up, pie (shortcrust and puff). And for heating things up like frozen meals, leftovers etc.

I also have a remoska use it loads, well that and a combi micro, I used my main oven last week the first time in ages(its a cupboard for baking tins Laughing )
Its grand for toad in the hole I did that last week when Dd was home and cooking for four, also cooks a chicken nice.
I did wonder if I would use it much or would it get thrown in a cupboard to keep other gadgets company Laughing but it lives on the worktop.
Bit of a sucker for gadgets but never had a chocolate fountain or juicer so doing well.

I'd never quite been able to get the "perfect" yorkshire pud in the main oven so I was made up the first time I made one in the remoska and it came out crisp and lovely and as it should be rather than a lump of stodge!

Yorkie pud batter just seems to blow up in the remoska and is light and fluffy, I don't even measure mine, was a bit Jamie Oliver last week and put herbs in the batter, turned out nice.

Lakeland sell them dont they?
I got one of their Christmas catalogues in yesterday, no remoska in it but loads of stuff that made me go mmmmm
and little bells seem to be in for decorations this year according to what they have, actually quite a lot of pinchable ideas in it. sorry went off on a tangent there
your yorkshires sound lovely love a nice big fluffy yorkshire pud and it helps to pad out a meal

Yes, I think Lakeland is the only place that sells them new. They crop up on ebay from time to time I'm told.

Haven't been to Lakeland for ages and when we moved I didn't give them the new address so I don't get the catalogues, if I don't know about it then I can't want to buy it! We go to the Lakes quite a lot so we have a look round the Windermere shop whenever we pass. Although I must be getting more well behaved as I didn't buy anything last time. Unheard of!

There are plenty of pinchable ideas for decorations and things too, great window shopping.

I've recently bought a halogen. I think I'm a little afraid of it at the moment, and not too sure what I can do in it or how. I did use it when camping to grill some chops in, which was ok, but a little well done. I think one day I'm just going to have to take a deep breath and take the bull by the horn and cook something in it. Once I have, I know I'll be hooked. What's the best thing to start with to get the confidence flowing :-)

The first thing i cooked in my halogen was sausages they came out lovely and crispy on the outside
You do have to be careful with the temps at first until you get the hang of it
It does seem to cook a bit hotter than my oven does but it is easier to control i think
I will admit i havent baked in it since the bread didnt go well and my cake trays are all to big to fit (except the sandwich tins)

Hmmm I want a remoska and have been wanting one for quite a while.... OH thinks its gonna be a waste of money but he's also known as victor meldrew so nothing new there then!

I reckon its time to bite the bullet and buy one. I have seen them on ebay but they sell more or less for the same price as a new one so I think I would rather spend a bit extra and get the guarantee.

fingers crossed I can convince him I need this......

I bought a grand in December. Not used it as much as I am struggling with the timings. Is there a general rule of thumb for how long stuff takes eg for stuff that usually take 30 mins in oven add 10 mins in the remoska? Had a couple of over cooked disasters in it so I am not as in love with it as I should be Embarassed

I don't add any extra time onto the cooking time and have never had any problems. Like using a normal oven I check it when the recipe says it should be done and if it doesn't look done leave it for a couple of minutes.

Sorry seem to have started another Ramoska post without finding this one, new on forum so forgive me. Yes, absolutely love my ramoska, got mine a couple of years ago from QVC and mum had one after hearing me sing its praises and she loves hers too but they no longer sell them so think only Lakeland selling them at the moment. I bought a halogen before this and oh I struggled with it I did not like it at all found the food did not cook right at all whereas I hit it off with the ramoska straight away. I have cooked a whole chicken, joint of beef, sausage casseroles, chilli and of course it makes wonderful jacket potatoes. May even invest in another one as only little niggle I have is that the standard is not quite big enough when preparing some meals for four of us. I use it most days and love the fact it hardly uses any electricity when compared to the main oven.

I must confess I have never even heard of a Remoska but just watched the video on their website. OMG I really want one now.
They are from the Czech republic and my sister in law is Czech, why on earth has she never mentioned these?? Mad

Are they economical on the electricity?

Lakeland have exchanged my remoska, the non stick was peeling off the inside of the lid, old lid was a blue/grey colour inside, new one is black.
