Lifes little pleasures.

Post  TP on Tue Oct 25, 2011 11:20 pm

What simple things can you think of to indulge lifes little pleasures and be a free spirit?

Puddle jumping
conkers
climbing trees
building sandcastles

There must be loads more for adults and children to enjoy. Smile

I go for lots of walks and when my daughter was younger we used to collect things as we walked along.

my daughter and i were fortunate enough to have a week in lanzarote last october and just sitting on the beach with the warm breeze blowing and the sun sparkling on the water feeling the sand between your toes - it was a blissful time. i remember it often.

also walking up on the heath with my dog. its my favourite part of my day.

Painting with my little girl.
Those magical smiles which light up both kids faces at times.
My OH always brings me the first British asparagus that comes into store however expensive as he knows I love it and only eat British.
A long hot soak in a bath with a lovelt lush type smely and a big glass of chilled pinot grigio!

I'm pretty easily pleased.

totally agree love watching people play in the swimming pool too and float in the sea, take airbeds in the water and chill out. Love it.

Some things I like -

visiting the art gallery
spending time on the beach and dunes
getting home after a long walk
the lovely orangey glow that comes from pubs in the autumn and winter
watching birds in the garden
getting into bed
learning something new

For me it's watching the sea. But in the land locked midlands it wouldn't be anything other than a pleasure.

For the kids it has to be glitter. I let them loose with the glue and glitter and you should have seen the excitement at this. I am however still covered in glitter and it's all over the house Shocked

sitting on my bench in the garden in the freezing cold, wrapped up warm, drinking a massive mug of tea and reading one of my favorite books again. I have a collection of books which get read again and again about once a year each. The Good Earth, The Colour Purple, The Red Tent, Rubyfruit Jungle, Devil on my Back to name a few.
forraging in general.
pruning my garden plants while listening to an audio book on my ipod lol.
serving a dinner my whole family loves!
sewing something beautiful.

The fresh smell after a rain shower in the summer. I also love the smell of: wood smoke, bread baking, when cooking a sunday dinner and Johnsons baby lotion.

I love the sound of feet walking over gravel and the sound of neighbourhood lawn mowers on a weekend as you know that summer is on its way! Also hearing my daughters laughter, she has a wicked laugh - a bit like Sid James Laughing
And seeing a waggy tailed dog greeting you when you get home from a busy day.

But an evening in my cosy warm house (when its cold outside), with a some candles burning, a large glass of wine and a good book is my idea of bliss.
