I have learnt some new sayings since being here swish and swipe which i love, doing the minimals, any other sayings to do with housework,homemaking etc.

Flylady says something like "hit a lick at a snake" to mean a quick once over.

I love this and even if the kitchen is a complete and utter disaster zone if the sink is clear and clean it makes me feel a whole lot better!
I hate having to clear the sink just so I can wash hands or fill the kettle!

well in my neck of the woods its a "quick shuftie about" meaning that its about 30 minutes before husband is due in from work and i have wasted the day doing nothing so i go mad for that half an hour its amazing how clean and tidy you can get the place in that panic filled half hour lol

doing a bit of shovvie shovvie. basically this comes from when we lived in a tiny flat an ad too much stuff, so mess just got moved and if we had guests it got shoved in cupboards etc lol.

My two favourites are 'a lick and a promise' meaning a quick tidy up and vac and 'don't put it down, put it away' which is said on a very regular basis to my lovely but messy sons!
