so happy! getting a chest freezer! Empty so happy! getting a chest freezer!

Post  flibsey Wed Sep 21, 2011 6:45 am

first off, tomorrow I should be free of wrist and hand pain on my right hand for the first time in nearly 10 years. even the anaesthetic will be a relief I think hahaha!
secondly, I got Mr Flibsey to agree to spend the surplus of this month's overtime pay on a chest freezer!!!!!!

we're going to finish the kitchen wall (just needs sanding and painting now) and then order it on the dreadit card. this will give us 4 weeks breathing space before paying, then whole thing (only £140 for the one to fit in our kitchen) will be paid off in one go once he gets paid for the overtime. no interest, but kind of "buy now, pay in a month" which is how we've done all large white goods recently and it's working well for us. I say white goods. the fridge is silver and the cooker is black; if we'd ordered either of them in white it would have been more expensive because both were on sale when we bought them Wink neither of us care about having matching items as them matching would only annoy both of us knowing we'd paid more to have them match!!!

And by recently I really mean over the last 4 years; we started off after moving from our flat with everything fitted in it to a house with nothing, with very old and therefore very cheap second hand white goods. as they died, we've replaced them with new and economically rated goods; which means if you come in our kitchen we look like the Beko fan club hahahaha!

our dryer is still going strong though, and we both love it so much for its tenacity and ability to bounce back from anything. that was from freecycle and has only cost us £20 in parts so far lol! it's basically part of the family now.

wow. I digressed a lot. sorry!

we're going for a Bush. that should break the Beko cycle!

this is why I love this forum, I can get excited about freezers and other people understand lol!!!

honestly, I'm just sick of having to play tetris with my current freezer! it's great, don't get me wrong, but I can't batch cook properly or bulk buy bargains.

i really want a chest freezer too! our fridge and freezer are under the couter ones then i have a smaller slimline under the counter freezer, (was a god send when we became a family of 3 and it was only £50 brand new!) i would love more fridge space too, the time i pile all the fruit/veg, yogurts etc in theres not room for much. just a small chest freezer would do me fine. have seen one in argos for £110, need to work on hibs after xmas lol

sorry, didnt mean to hijack!

Have you looked on Freecycle for a chest freezer, I got my small one, the size of a fridge but with an opening top off freecycle & gave my front opening one away on there.

I used to love freecycle, but my local one went down the chute when someone stupid took over ad moderator. I am thinking of trying freegle or even gumtree though, but again I'd like a newer A rated one so the electric use is one less thing to have to persuade jim about!!!
