Shower gel versus soap
I love shower gel but its actually quite wasteful not as economical as soap. I thought i might start using soap and ditching the gel but i cant so i will carry on. Id miss it to much and the smell. Oh uses mainly soap he dosent believe shower gel gets you as clean. What do you use and your oh etc.
Also do you buy cheap shower gel or own brand value stuff?
Ive got allsorts, yesterday i bought a big shop own brand one for economy.

Re: Shower gel versus soap
It depends, sometimes soap sometimes shower gel. I use one of those bath puff thingamys so a little bit of soap/gel goes a long way. Dan is currently using a Sainsbury's showergel, they've recently got the BUAV mark and contain no parabens which is good, he uses shampoo bars from Lush. Everything else we use comes from Faith in Nature.

I use shower gel, hub uses soap, but on the understanding that he squeegee's the shower screen! I spray when I shower, so it doesn't get too bad.
I use a German one for sensitive skin, mainly so I can use it on my hair, since I started to wear a wig, also a shower oil, which stops me getting bad itching on my scalp. You'll be sorry you asked LOL!

Do you think they clean the same gel and soap?

Hmmm, I've never thought about it... I think it can feel more satisfying to have a nice bar of soap to lather up rather than a splodge of gel but I think that's probably just in my mind rather than actually making me any cleaner. I wonder if there is a difference...
I just did a quick search and found an article about the pros and cons of bar soap v shower gel - Article link. It says bar soap can dry the skin out more because it has a higher ph than shower gels, maybe that's why some people feel cleaner because there skin feels very bare?

Re: Shower gel versus soap
We have both....bubble bath and shower gel are interchangeable as far as we're concerned, and we have lots of soap because DD nd I had a mad crafting session a few weeks back and made enough to sink a dinghy! I do think it all cleans just the same....it's not the product, so much as what you do with it that counts. I use one of those bath puffs and always feel squeaky clean no matter which product I use

Re: Shower gel versus soap
I've found that some soaps smell amazing when you first get them, but after a couple of weeks in the shower they just don't smell the same. that said, I have gel for quick showers but soap by the sink.

Re: Shower gel versus soap
i always use shower gel, but i too use a puffy ball thing so reall need a little squirt. For the sink i use liquid hand soap, have recently started using basics baby bath to refill them, and saves a fortune! maybe not as nice a pink/cream colour but blue will do lol. For the kids bath i also use basics baby bath and their skin has been fine with it. i do love the smell of the lavender johnsons but refuse to pay that price, especially when hubby uses about half a bottle a bath! ok slight exageration but you get the drift lol. I personally dont like bars of soap, dont like the thought of using them after other people.

I got a massive bottle of boots basics bubble bath for 11p. was meant to be 18p on the SEL. unlike tesco's basics bubble bath, it doesn't smell like bog cleaner either lol.

Re: Shower gel versus soap
I like a bar of soap, but it has to be Lush's Rockstar! When I have a bar of that, it's strictly mine and no one else uses it - not a problem at the mo, as DH doesn't want to smell like pink fairies, and DD is still too young to care - that could change in a few years! I do like a shower gel, Body Shop one's are gorgeous, I've never used an own brand or basics version, but may try in the future. Right now,it's quicker and less of a faff for me to lather up with a soap bar. I don't think it makes you cleaner than gel though.

Re: Shower gel versus soap
We use both but mainly soap. Don't tend to share though as I make my own and everyone has their own favourite type and scent. OH and DD both like the one I do with oatmeal in as it's lovely for their skin but I do fruity smells for DD and Cedarwood for OH so he smells more manly. I like pretty smells or ocean type clean scents.
